Group-A Racing Reconfirms Robert Torres for 2020 Race Season

Group-A Racing Reconfirms Robert Torres for 2020 Race Season

Torres takes next step in racing career development with Group-A Racing

After getting a taste of the Formula 4 United States Championship Powered by Honda at the end of 2019, Robert Torres inked a deal with Group-A Racing to run a full-season with the New York-based team.

Torres first joined Group-A Racing in the 2018 off season, testing with the team in the F4 machinery. From there, he joined the Group-A Racing Driver Development Program, receiving driver management and coaching to guide his career at each step. As part of the program, the young gun also participated in the Lucas Oil Formula Car Series for additional competition development over the past two seasons.

“I remember testing at MSR Houston for the first time a couple of years ago and just finding out what F4 was all about,” explained Torres. “I raced karts in local competition but never raced in SKUSA, USPKS or series like that, so Group-A Racing does excellent with filling in those blanks of fundamentals that are learned in those series and applying them through the Lucas Oil Formula Car Series. I take the same approach in F4 as I did when starting in The Lucas Oil Series, making progress in each session of each event. It’s one more step on the ladder towards my ultimate goal of racing in IMSA, and I look forward to learning more, improving and competing with Group-A Racing this year.”

At the end of 2019, Torres made his pro debut in F4 U.S. with Group-A Racing competing at Sebring and the Circuit of The Americas Formula 1 United States Grand Prix weekend. That experience gave him a taste of what the pro racing level is like in effort to prepare him for a full season campaign for 2020. Since then, he has been testing with the team at its winter home of MSR Houston in anticipation for the upcoming season.

“I am really happy about Robert getting to run full time in F4 U.S. with us this year” said team manager Jonathan Scarallo. “He and his family are some of the nicest people you can ever meet and he has been really pushing himself to take that next step of competitiveness. In his latest test a few weeks ago, he took a good step closing the gap and has a big desire to keep moving up.”

Group-A Racing will have another full-time driver announcement being released soon, leaving only 1 more seat available for the season. The team has been scheduling more testing for other participants. Drivers interested in testing, race & driver development seats contact Jonathan Scarallo 631-974-4379 info@GroupARacingTeam.com
